Newport, RI is a 40 minute ride from Providence, RI, 90 minutes from metropolitan Boston and 3-1/2 hours from New York City .

 

Convenient Parking at the Gateway Visitor’s Center

Parking is available at the Gateway Visitor’s Center (23 America’s Cup Avenue, Newport, RI). The Gateway Visitor’s Center is Newport’s public transportation and visitor information hub in downtown Newport.

Walk to the Festival:
If you park at the Gateway Visitor’s Center, the Newport Arts Festival (at the Newport Yachting Center) is a short walk (under a half of a mile) south on America’s Cup Ave.

Ride to the Festival:

Option #1 Ford Fiesta Shuttle
 Offering a continuous loop shuttle to and from the festival gate, the new Ford Fiesta will bring you there in style. Or, you can choose to test drive the Fiesta en route yourself. The shuttle leaves from the Gateway Visitor’s Center parking lot.

The Gateway Visitor’s Center offers a convenient public parking lot for anyone visiting Newport. The fee is $1.50 per 30 minute parking with the first half hour free. Just get your ticket validated at the visitor’s center, where you’ll find a wealth of information about Newport.     

Option #2 RIPTA Flex Van
From the Gateway Visitor’s Center, Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) provides a Flex Service van, which can take you down America’s Cup Avenue to the Newport Yachting Center. The fare is $1.75.  The Flex Service van leaves the visitor’s center on weekends at 10 am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. You can board the van directly or make a reservation ahead of time (48 hours in advance) by calling 401-784-9500 x 220 from 9am-5pm. For more information, visit www.RIPTA.com.

Directions to Parking

Parking is available at the Gateway Visitor’s Center at 23 America’s Cup Avenue, Newport, RI.

From Points South: Interstate 95 North to Route 138 East over Jamestown and Newport bridges ($2 toll). Take first exit off of Newport Bridge (“Scenic Newport”) and bear right off the exit. At 2 nd set of lights take a right to America’s Cup Avenue and soon you’ll see the Gateway Visitor’s Center on the right-hand side of the street.

From Boston, Cape Cod and Points North: Interstate 93 South to Route 24 South. Follow Route 24 to Route 114 South, which turns into West Main Road in Middletown, which turns into Broadway in Newport. Follow Broadway into Newport. After you have passed the Newport Police Station on the right side of the street, watch for City Hall on the left. After City Hall, bear right at the fork in the road, which is Marlborough Street. Follow Marlborough Street until you cross America’s Cup Avenue and the Gateway Center will be directly in front of you.

From Worcester, Providence and Points Northwest: Interstate 95 to Exit 9 (Route 4). Route 4 merges into Route 1. Follow Route 1 (less than a mile) to 138 East over Jamestown and Newport bridges ($2 toll). Take first exit off of Newport Bridge (“Scenic Newport”) and bear right off the exit. At 2 nd set of lights take a right to America’s Cup Avenue and soon you’ll see the Gateway Visitor’s Center on the right-hand side of the street.
